Ford Galaxie by Kassay and Mosset

One of my favorite exhibitions at this year’s Art Basel was the Piston Head. Put together by Adam Lindemann of the Venus Over Manhattan Gallery and sponsored by Ferrari, it was a novel concept of an entire show of cars as art. Big name artists such as Richard Prince, Damien Hirst, Dan Colen, Nate Lowman, Jacob Kassay and Olivier Mosset contributed works to the show. Vanity Fair was there too and wrote a little bit on the show you can find here. Now I must confess. My favorite car in the show was the Ford Galaxie by Kassay and Mosset. I have always loved this larger than life car as my grandfather used to drive one and I would see it when he came to Sunday afternoon dinners. In this example Jacob Kassay removed all the paint from the car and the silver exterior is the raw sheet metal. Olivier Mosset and Servane Mary re-did the interior with a flame fabric and the interior lighting is a burnt orange. Put it all together and it is just cool. I had to buy it BTW!
